Selling
Coins
NwMarketplace does
not permit the sale of coins or paper money that are fraudulent or
improperly described. Sellers who knowingly fail to disclose
information about the authenticity of coins or paper money,
alterations to coins or paper money, or other information that might
have a material impact on the coin or paper money value may be
reported to the American
Numismatic Association (ANA).
Violations of this
policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Guidelines for coins
and paper money sellers:
Read the Selling
Coins & Paper Money on NwMarketplace.
Include all
relevant information that is known about the coins or paper money;
for example their origin, date of issue, and condition.
Include a clear
picture of the actual coin or paper money item that is being offered
for sale.
Include all
information concerning any alterations that may have been made to
the coins or paper money.
Specifically

misunderstandings about the nature of the items.
If unsure of the
origin or authenticity of the coins or paper money, please state
this clearly in the listing.
Laws on
counterfeit coins or paper money
U.S. federal laws
strictly prohibit the sale of counterfeit coins or paper money, as
well as equipment designed to make these illegal products. U.S. law
also protects coins or paper money from counterfeiters. Therefore,
these counterfeit items may not be listed on NwMarketplace. Sellers
should be compliant with all federal, state, and local laws while
listing coins or paper money on NwMarketplace. A few examples of the
actual U.S. counterfeiting laws are listed below:
Selling
Coins & Paper Money on NwMarketplace
NwMarketplace
recognizes all requirements with the American
Numismatic Association (ANA)
to help improve overall trading safety within the Coins category on
NwMarketplace. Sellers must comply with the ANA when selling
numismatic material on NwMarketplace. This has been drawn from the
ANA Member Code of Ethics, ANA Dealer Code of Ethics, and specific
terms of sale which are considered "general trade practice"
within the organized numismatic community. It does not replace
NwMarketplace's general seller rules and regulations, but rather
supplements those rules. Sellers are encouraged to abide by these
guidelines when selling items on NwMarketplace. Failure to do so
could result in disciplinary action by NwMarketplace and possible
suspension or loss of selling privileges. In addition, such failure
may be grounds for further
disciplinary action
by the ANA against its members.
Sellers
agree not to
knowingly sell, exhibit, trade, produce, or advertise a copy or
reproduction of any numismatic item if its nature is not clearly
indicated by the word "copy" or "reproduction,"
incused in the metal or printed on the paper thereof. These items
are allowed to be sold provided:
Note: Restrikes are
permitted for sale and they are not required to have "copy"
or "reproduction" incused in the metal or printed on the
paper thereof, if the item was produced or authorized for minting by
the original issuing government.
Sellers
agree to
represent a numismatic item to be genuine only when it is authentic
to the best of their knowledge and belief. Learn
more
about authentication and see a list of authentication
and grading services.
Additional information is available about consumer protection at the
ANA.
